Most of what patients want to know about implants is easier to show than to write. These short videos come from our YouTube channel: how a CBCT scan and guided surgery make implant placement safer, who can have implants, what changes the price, and real cases from our clinic in Rajouri Garden, New Delhi. Dr Pushkar Ke Pravachan: your implant questions
A weekly series of short answers to the questions patients ask most, in English and Hindi.
2:31Dental implant treatment explained, step by stepThe implant process at Dr Sobti's Dental Care, Rajouri Garden: diagnosis, CBCT planning, intraoral scan, guided placement and the final crown.0:59What is a CBCT scan? 3D dental scanning explainedDr Pushkar Sobti explains cone beam CT: the 3D scan that shows teeth, jawbone and nearby structures before treatment.0:31Why every implant patient needs a CBCT scan firstA flat X-ray cannot show bone width, nerves and sinuses. A CBCT scan shows them in 3D, so the implant can be placed safely.0:41Why an intraoral scan matters for dental implants (Episode 2)Dr Pushkar Sobti explains how a digital intraoral scan makes a 3D model of your teeth, helps plan implant position and improves the fit of the final teeth.0:57How CBCT and intraoral scans plan implant surgery (Episode 3)How the CBCT scan and the intraoral scan are combined to plan the implant position, design the new tooth before surgery and guide placement.1:05Free-hand vs guided implant surgery (Episode 9)The difference between free-hand and computer-guided implant surgery, and why a CBCT-based plan and a surgical guide add precision.0:54How nerve injury is avoided during implant placement (Episode 13)How the nerve is located on the CBCT scan, and how guided planning, the right angle and the right depth keep implant surgery safe.0:54Bone grafting before dental implants: do you need it? (Episode 7)What bone grafting is, when it is needed before an implant, and how it builds enough jawbone when the CBCT scan shows too little.0:59Immediate vs delayed dental implants: when is the best time? When an implant can go in on the day of the extraction, when it is better to wait, and how the right timing protects bone and gums.0:34One missing tooth: dental implant or bridge?A bridge needs the neighbouring teeth to be cut down; an implant replaces the tooth on its own. Which is better depends on bone, neighbouring teeth and bite.1:16Expensive vs cheap dental implants: what is the difference? Why implant price alone is a poor guide: results depend on the whole system, the planning, the surgery, the crown design and long-term maintenance.1:02An implant is not just a screw: what is an abutment? (Episode 6)The abutment connects the implant to the crown. Dr Pushkar explains custom abutments and why titanium grade 5 is used.0:52Can diabetic patients get dental implants? HbA1c explained (Episode 11)What HbA1c is, why it is checked before implant surgery, how diabetes affects healing and the precautions taken for diabetic patients.0:37Can you get dental implants if you take blood thinners? (Episode 10)Being on blood thinners does not rule out implants. The dentist plans with your cardiologist or physician and gets written medical clearance first.0:32Is there an age limit for dental implants? (Episode 12)Age alone rarely decides it. General health, bone, healing ability and medical history matter more, for younger and older patients alike.0:47Can dental implants fail years later? Warning signs (Episode 8)The warning signs of implant problems, why they happen and how to look after an implant so it lasts.

Quick answers
Can diabetic patients get dental implants?
Usually yes, if blood sugar is under control. Diabetes slows healing, so an HbA1c test is checked before implant surgery and extra precautions are taken. Uncontrolled diabetes is brought under control first. Watch the video.
Can I get dental implants if I take blood thinners?
Being on blood thinners does not by itself rule out implants. We plan the surgery with your cardiologist or physician and get written medical clearance before treatment. Never stop a blood thinner on your own. Watch the video.
Is there an age limit for dental implants?
There is no fixed upper age. Overall health, the amount of bone, healing ability and medical history matter more than age. Implants in growing teenagers are usually delayed until the jaw stops growing. Watch the video.
Why is a CBCT scan needed before an implant?
A normal X-ray is flat. A CBCT scan shows the jawbone, nerve and sinus in 3D, so the implant size, position and angle can be planned safely before surgery. At our clinic the CBCT scan is included in the implant price. Watch the video.
What is guided implant surgery?
The implant is planned on the CBCT and intraoral scans first, and a 3D-printed surgical guide then carries that plan into the mouth. It helps place the implant at the planned position, depth and angle. Watch the video.
Do I need a bone graft before a dental implant?
Only if the CBCT scan shows there is not enough bone where the implant must go. If you need one, it is written into your estimate before treatment starts. In full-arch cases, tilted implants can often avoid a graft. Watch the video.
Can an implant be placed on the same day as the extraction?
Sometimes. An immediate implant is possible when the bone is healthy and there is no active infection. Otherwise it is safer to let the site heal first. The CBCT scan helps decide. Watch the video.
Is an implant better than a bridge for one missing tooth?
A bridge needs the neighbouring teeth to be cut down to hold it, while an implant replaces the missing tooth on its own. An implant is not automatically better for everyone: bone, the neighbouring teeth and your bite decide. Watch the video.
Why are some dental implants much cheaper than others?
A low price often covers only the implant screw. The result depends on the whole system: implant brand, planning, guided surgery, a custom abutment, the crown and follow-up care. Compare full prices, not the screw alone. Watch the video.
What is an implant abutment?
The abutment is the connector between the implant in the bone and the crown you see. We use custom abutments milled from titanium grade 5 for a precise fit. Watch the video.
Can a dental implant fail years later?
It can, usually because of gum infection around the implant (peri-implantitis), heavy biting forces or poor cleaning. Bleeding or swollen gums around the implant, pain, a loose crown or a bad taste are reasons to see your dentist early. Watch the video.
